• 5.0 out of 5 stars from KTH -- Captivating and Challenging! : Geoff Peters takes us through a compelling parable about a father, his business, and the children he wants to engage in the business. This story captivated me and challenged me in so many ways. There is plenty left unanswered in the story, but that's the point: it raises questions for each reader, in our unique circumstances, around what the calling of our Father demands; what does it mean? Does it mean that we need to sell everything and move to a distant place? Does it mean we just find ways to engage in the business with skills we already have, where we are? There are no easy answers, and each one must answer individually, but it raises the important conversation each of us much engage into. Hopefully through this incredible story, many will identify and step into that life our Father made us to live. Thank you Geoff, for this insightful and provoking addition. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kate Toretti -- Great writing; Deep analogy : From the outset, this book is a great read. It's an interesting story that is relatable to the modern world. Well-written, Peters' intentional word choice and description pull the reader in to the lives of each of the characters. The story's deeper meaning, however, is what remains long after Peters' voice fades and the book goes to rest on a shelf. There's a character for each of us in this story, some piece of we can say, "That's me. That's what I'd do or say in this situation." The use of parable does 2 things: makes it even more accessible to the reader without being dogmatic. Instead, we're left to evaluate our own stories and what it could mean to work for 'Jessie's Hardware' with our whole lives.
