Intermittent Fasting : Melissa Carter explains what intermittent fasting is, what happens in your body as you do it, the various methods, tips to get started and to be successful, health benefits for women over 50 and more. I like that she talks about planning to start and knowing your personal goals for following intermittent fasting. Knowing your why is so important! For women over 50 they experience lower metabolism, achy joints, reduced muscle mass, and sleep issues. If you’re over 50 and overweight, losing weight can be harder and it’s even more important to lose weight over 50 due to increased risk of significant health concerns. Following intermittent fasting can increase life expectancy, help burn fat and lose weight, improve cardiovascular health, and help prevent and/or manage diabetes. The author also includes an eight week meal plan and lots of recipes to try.

Overhaul & Reboot with IF : So being over 50 and going through menopause has been a cruel joke. I've gained weight, sleep horribly and I'm very moody. I need a reset. Intermittent Fasting is extremely popular. This book is a real good guide. I learned it's not just about when you eat, you have to choose wisely and pay attention to nutritional value. I was surprised there were so many methods. It's a bonus that there are also some recipes included. There are so many reasons to start IF: increased metabolism, fat and weight loss, body detox and cellular repair. I will be planning my meals and exercising. I will get the OK from my doctor first. Thanks Melissa Carter, I'm feeling very informed.

Fasting for better overall health : After 50 yrs old, your body tends to have slower metabolism, reduced muscled mass, achy joints, and sleep problems, making it harder to lose weight. The author breaks down the different types of fasting patterns, where you eat at only scheduled intervals to help your body function at a higher capacity. I like that it gave a list of foods to enjoy and foods to avoid. The book was full of detail on how to make the most out of this diet. Lots of information to read here.

Intermittent fasting can be done several different ways with the most popular being 16 hours of fasting and 8 hours where you can eat. The book goes over how the diet works along with some great recipes and even a meal plan.
